I definitely needed this read I have been revisiting the slow present moments now that I am not working that I asked and prayed for and now that I am here I find myself struggling with the mental battle of why am I not doing more.

I know it’s because this stillness doesn’t look the way I planned it because I am not working and have no idea my next move to earn an income or have enough savings to sit still for awhile but that defeats the point of walking by faith.

Thank you for sharing your journey!

To be fair, lack of income is a very jolting experience! It can remove your sense of security and create a constant hum of “what’s next?” in your ear, making it hard to appreciate the stillness you’ve prayed for. What you’re describing is so relatable—the tension between trusting the process and feeling like you should be doing more.

It’s such a human struggle, especially in a culture that ties our worth to productivity. But I love that you’re revisiting those slow, present moments. Maybe this stillness, even though it feels uncomfortable or unplanned, is exactly what’s needed to recalibrate and realign you with something greater. Trusting that walking by faith will sustain you is a daily practice, and the mental battle you’re facing is evidence that you’re growing through it.

Thank you for sharing where you’re at—it’s such a powerful reminder that rest and faith are not idle but intentional steps in the right direction. Keep leaning into this season; it might surprise you.

I don't think cancelling Netflix is extreme, it will give you more time to have more clarity and discipline in your life. I love reading your writing, it is so inspiring to me

Thank you! I was genuinely seeking advice on this! I love movies. Loveeee. I can spend 8 hours at a time watching movies on the weekend, and that's the problem. I watch them so much that I haven't started writing one yet (a dream of mine is to sell a script). I prayed when I posted this and said, "Lord, let the first comment show me the answer." So, I feel clear now! I'll go to the movie theatres when I really want to see something or create a habit of where I get to watch one a month or something! And thank you so much for affirming and uplifting me with your words!!

I've had a similar epiphany of my purpose and desire to go more analog lately. Wishing you well on the journey :) I remember hearing about the light phone not long ago, I might check it out too!

I’m wishing you well on your simplicity journey too! I’d love to know some things you’re considering changing—it might give me and others some inspiration! And I’m excited to switch phones, but I refuse to pay $300 for it, lol. So I’ve been shopping on eBay, waiting for a good deal to pop up! For now, I’ve turned my iPhone screen to black and white and deleted most of my apps. It’s been a great start to breaking the habit of constant scrolling. Keep me posted on how your journey unfolds—I love hearing what works for others!

Thank you for your yes. God has wanted me to slow down in many ways: mentally, physically, with school, socially, etc. Each day, I realize God does not move in the world's time. In this "slow down" period, He has been wanting me to "show up" - Show up for others, myself, and most importantly, God.

I definitely agree with the cutback on convenience. I canceled my Amazon Prime subscription as well months ago and have focused on going in store and supporting businesses. And the convenience of online hoarding, haha. I will keep millions of tabs open, save millions of recipes that I have yet tried, and so much more. Holy Spirit said the other day, "Do not save another recipe until you do one of the recipes saved." So now, I'm on a cooking journey which has been so fun!

You remind me of the 90s. Fun, cute, authentic, intentional, and connected. I think this is a good idea.

I love how intentional you’re being about being present! I also went on a subscription canceling spree this week so I can relate to what you write about. I’ll be praying for you. Where I’m from we have a saying. “It will end in praise” and that’s my prayer for you. I’m looking forward to everything you plan on sharing on goal setting etc.

There’s a certain type of peace I feel when reading your notes/email/letters.

I love this post and came at the right time for me. God has been teaching to just be with him and everything will work out fine. Especially when I pray for something but my circumstance doesn’t reflect how this something is going to happen. For example, I’ve been praying to God for a place to finally stay and call my own instead of renting. And I would prefer not to take out a loan. I’ve told God that he’s the one paying for it but then some days I think I’m being entitled or arrogant about it. Long story short: I just need to trust God and not look at my situation like Peter.

Also, love this article and can’t wait to see what God will do for you in 2025
